Aimed at children is the attached Writing and Graphics Competition through which students are invited to create and illustrate a theme given through poems and short stories. This year the Literary Prize has been included among the most significant activities of the European project Comenius R.E.A.D. (Reading Eliminates All Difficulties) in which the Institute is participating together with other schools in Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Hungary and Slovakia.

Teco for Central Italy

Even on the occasion of the earthquake that struck the population of Central Italy on August 24, 2016 with its epicenter located along the Valle del Tronto, Teco and its employees showed themselves as always very attentive to social issues. In fact, they collected and donated to the Department of Civil Protection of Rome a sum to contribute to the reconstruction works of the areas affected by the earthquake.

Teco has also purchased products from the earthquake areas for Christmas gifts to employees and customers.

Teco for schools

Since 2019, on the occasion of the world day of safety at work, TECO has launched the initiative "The circle of life - Safety, Environment, Health", thanks to which it involves the 4th and 5th classes of the primary schools of Fiorenzuola d'Arda (in all about 300 children every year) in mornings to raise children's awareness of safety issues. Each class goes to our company headquarters and, in a time of about 2 hours, divided into groups, has the opportunity to experience three islands.

In the first island the children watch a movie, structured as a cartoon, in which two children, schoolmates, help their grandfather who has felt sick, call the ambulance and manage to save him. It is an awareness video, designed for children. With the help of the health instructor, they learn the importance of the immediate first aid call to 118, as a first step to always take when someone is not feeling well. With a semi-automatic educational defibrillator, they also experiment with cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on a test dummy. They listen to the instructions dictated by the defibrillator and do the actual test, simulating compressions and breathing.

On the second island, children use special machine simulators installed at Teco's Machine Training Room. In particular, they use the 3D forklift simulator, with which they learn to move in an obstacle course, the 3D crane simulator, with which they learn to move a load and move it from a starting point to an arrival point, and the 4D excavator simulator, which is of the latest generation and which also has the fourth dimension,  that is, it also reproduces the movements of the vehicle's seat. The simulators are extremely realistic, both as action scenarios and as movements, that is, they exactly reproduce the movements of real construction machines. The instructors accompany the children step by step in becoming familiar with the controls and in doing the operations in gradual exercises.

The third island is divided into two: in the first part the children try a path with vertical and horizontal obstacles inside a smoke tunnel, where they line up, and must arrive at the end of the path, making sure that the whole group leaves the tunnel. In this way they also refine their sense of responsibility and sense of group. The children then carry out a fire extinguishing test using a tank in which the fire is lit, which the children, dressed in gowns, gloves and helmet with visor, extinguish using the jet of a fire extinguisher.

Another test they face is that of work at height. The children, with the help of two instructors, are harnessed with harnesses for boys and helmet, climb a ladder, then detach from the ladder and are lowered by the instructors, to allow them to experience the feeling of being hung in the void.

Teco for Christmas gifts

Every year Teco donates a fee to non-profit associations that aim to enhance our territory (for example Associazione Libera Terra, Associations for aid to earthquake victims, Lilt, A heart for Piacenza ...).

The garden of the Teco Society also has an area dedicated to fruit trees (apples, quinces, lemons, apricots, morello cherries, pears, peaches, plums, blackberries and raspberries).

Teco for health promotion

Since 2017 Teco has been promoting health promotion projects that aim to raise awareness among its staff, customers companies with their workers and, through them, also their families to important issues related to health, always with great attention paid to prevention. In 2017 we were promoters of the campaign "Do not take it lightly heart!!", in collaboration with the non-profit organization Progetto Vita of Piacenza, focused on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In the years 2018-2019 we were promoters of the "Eat well, live better" campaign, in collaboration with LILT – Piacenza Section, focused on healthy and correct nutrition. In 2022 we will inaugurate the new campaign to fight addictions (smoking, alcohol, drugs, gaming, mobile phones), which we are finalizing these days. On the occasion of these initiatives, TECO donated a voluntary contribution to the non-profit organizations concerned.
